How much Portsmouth paid St Johnstone for Makenzie Kirk transfer
Portsmouth continued to strengthen their squad right up until the end of the summer transfer window, with Makenzie Kirk arriving from St Johnstone.
Pompey completed a deal for former Stoke City goalkeeper Josef Bursik on 1 September and followed that soon after with the addition of Kirk.
There is also hope that Portsmouth could sign Conor Chaplin from Ipswich Town before the 7pm deadline.
Kirk has been linked with a switch to Fratton Park for the past few days, with Portsmouth seeing off competition from at least one other EFL side.
Twenty-one-year-old forward Kirk was confirmed as a Portsmouth player on Monday, giving John Mousinho another option in attack.

Portsmouth pay six-figure fee for Makenzie Kirk transfer
Kirk always looked like being a smart signing for Portsmouth, and it ensures there is some added firepower at Fratton Park.
It has now been reported by BBC Sport’s Chris Wise via X that Pompey have paid St Johnstone upwards of £500,000 for Kirk.
That represents some good business in the current market for a player who clearly has the ability to make an impact.
Pompey fans were eager for some business on the final day of the summer transfer window and they have got their wish.
Will Portsmouth conduct any further signings on deadline day?
Portsmouth’s deal for Kirk was always expected to go through, but talk of a move for Chaplin from Ipswich is one that has got fans excited.
- Kirk netted 45 times in 49 matches for Hearts’ B team
- The striker moved to St. Johnstone last summer
- Peterborough had a bid rejected for Kirk before Portsmouth pounced
Portsmouth can be happy with their summer transfer business overall, but Mousinho will no doubt be eager for that one final deal to get over the line.
If a deal can be struck with Ipswich to bring Chaplin back to Fratton Park, that would surely represent a very successful final day of activity.
Mousinho’s men have had solid start to the campaign results wise and there is no reason why they cannot now push on thanks to these late signings – assuming the Chaplin move does indeed go through.
